Such a simple phrase, with such different results depending on where you ask. In Mecklinberg, asking for two beers would result in half a litre of the most awful pilsner you can imagine – complete with distinct notes of ashtray. In Barvaria, it’s hard to go wrong. Everyplace seems to have a lager (hell) dark beer (dunkle) and a wheat beer (Weißbier). We’ve yet to drink the same beer twice, and each one is different but deliciously good.
If by chance you don’t manage to visit enough beer gardens for the day, every campsite we’ve visited sells beer (at one of the smaller ones that didn’t have a staffed reception we found beer in a vending machine). We read that the average Bavarian (from birth to death) consumes 150L of beer per year, and with beers this good and this available, you can easily see why.
