We’ve now left France behind….no more French pastries until November?
We managed 2-3 pastries per day, so too much to summarise each one, but here’s the high and lowlights.
A pomme tartelette. Slices of Apple on a bed and apple purée on a shortcrust party. 4 stars.
A sponge with marzipan, wrapped in a crepe. Not normally something I’d like but really good. Another 4 stars.
A croque Monsieur. Really disgusting ham, cheese, fromage, more cheese, cream and more cheese toasted sandwich available from most patisseries. Surprisingly good when you’re really hungry. 3 stars for this one, but not sure I’d eat it if i wasn’t cycling…..
Wild camping breakfast of a flan aux fruit and a rhubarb tartelette. A little disappointing, but had been in our panniers over night in the rain….2 1/2 stars.
Bliss in a box. The one in the middle almost finished me off. Chantilly cream on a bed of custard, inside shoe pastry with a toffee on top. 4 1/2 stars. Alli insisted I include the photo of me eating it.
