Morocco has rivalled France for its pastries and today it served up a killer blow to cement second place in the list of pastry nations.

This was like nothing I’ve ever had. As you can see it’s a work of art. The outer casing was like marzipan, but without the bitter almond (which I have to say I’m not a big fan of), and with a hint of mandarin. Inside was a delicious cake like filling. I say cake like, because it was both milky and nutty, and unlike any cake I’ve ever eaten. A Moroccan mystery and fully deserving of the full five stars! And it cost a whole 7 dirhams (about $1 AU).
I had a chocolate eclair for breakfast from the same place and it too was mighty fine!
