Woke up to mist and the sounds of the rainforest. Everything was wet, but as we were in no hurry today, we sat in bed reading until almost 10am and didn’t get on the road until after midday.
The exped mats are absolutely awesome. Kept us toasty warm, and with the chair add-on,
allowed us to sit up to read and have our morning tea.
Easy day of riding today, with only 32km to our next camp. And mostly downhill! We were both glad of the easy day after yesterday.
Riding out is mainly on gravel roads, which slows things down a bit. It’s a lovely ride though, with a mixture of open forest and rain forest. Bell birds kept us company most of the way.

Had lunch at an odd place called Wiangaree on the Summerland highway. The lady in charge said they were run off their feet with the public holiday… as far as I could tell, we were pretty much the only customers while we were there… I can only imagine how quiet it must be when its not so busy!
Then 10 more kms to our campsite at Moore park. Unfortunately when got there, we noticed the ‘no camping’ sign… however I managed to convince Ally to look the other way and we found a spot that wasn’t too visible from the road. The camp was really good, next to the river, and set amongst remnant rain forest.
