Mushrooms and mountains

After our hard crossing across the Sinjajevina plains, Ally was a bit worse for wear, and we ended up having a couple of days off in Kolasin. It was a bit hard to go past this place. It was surprisingly well laid out with the bedroom in the hood, and the tiny little kitchen and bathroom in the stem.

While she was resting her weary legs I went for one final jaunt into the nearby national park (it has one of of only three primordial forests left in Europe). Of course I didn’t really check the contours before I set off, and ended up riding  up to a pass at 2000 metres – a 1100 metres climb. It was absolutely worth it though as the views from the top were incredible, and once again I had the road to myself. The 20km downhill flying over dirt track, melon sized boulders and hair pin turns was an absolute treat, and reminded me once more how much I love biking in Montenegro!
