After our cycle into the Bora winds we spent the day exploring the Krka National Park. We weren’t really sure what to expect, particularly as the highlight was supposed to be a river and a series of waterfalls. Up until yesterday, we’d hardly seen any running water river in Croatia, and it was hard to imagine any significant body of water in the arid looking landscape we’d been cycling through.
Well our expectations were well and truly exceeded! The falls were massive and roaring….in fact they were partly in flood, with the water oozing from almost everywhere we looked, and trees semi submerged in gushing torrents.
Yet again we were glad that we’d visited Croatia in October. We’d heard that the national park would be completely full of people. However, we almost had the run of the place….and in full blazing sunshine!
The town of Krka was also surprisingly lovely, if a little quiet, and had a very nice bar playing really good music. Sigh… I think I will never want to leave Croatia!
